Kingston Edible Forest GardenEdible Forest have loved our visits and so to have those that made the journey from GG to help keep on top of all the things that happen here.
So much so that repeat visits are now in place to help stay on top of the work that needs doing throughout the winter months
Grab your gloves as lots going on as you can see below...Don't panic this is not all in one session though and sloe berries are on the menu at some point in the mix too ; - )
Duties and details will be ranging from as follows -
harvesting and putting in shed: apples, quince, medlar. So fruit as a reward will continue to November, but then starts again in April with Rhubarb
preparing beds for tree seeds and also to transplant plum, almond and apple grafts that we did before; then the transplanting itself.
lifting previous years apples, and other saplings for collection by schools or scouts
tree work: various apple, maple, elderflower, hawthorn, pear, bay etc to be pruned. A cupressus to be felled
blackcurrant and gooseberries that we propagated to be planted out, and some making space and new beds for them or for schools to use
propagating cuttings of fig, blackcurrant, gooseberry
option for GGers to plant salad seeds of your choice in polytunnel in winter, such as salad leaves or broad beans. You can look up what needs to be started at home.
2nd Sunday in the month normally. Bring food if you like, but we can get a kettle boiled for a hot drink. We will probably stay longer so there is time to socialise at distance, to hear more about the project etc.
Brian will be the task owner and has asked to share this short video which shows the philosophy that they are following https://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/short-film-showcase/00000168-c3bb-d3a0-a17f-ffbf61780000
