Merton Garden Streets and Community Growing Projects
Merton Garden Streets is a volunteer-led initiative by local residents and businesses in the borough of Merton to make our streets greener. The project began in 2021 and was inspired by Wandsworth’s Green the Grid project and run by volunteers from Merton's Climate Action Group. Merton Garden Streets is now delivered by Sustainable Merton, with some support from Merton Council, and led by local volunteers. Through encouraging street and front garden planting, together we are improving community well-being and delivering important environmental benefits, such as increasing wildlife, improving air quality, and helping to prevent flooding.

This year the team are growing a lot of the plants themselves and need help potting up the seedlings. We will be joining other volunteers and supporting this great project which is running for 10am to 3pm and you are welcome to stay longer than the listed session time but we hope to get some of the Goodgym volunteers to join for an hour from 10.30am.

No prior knowledge needed as we will receive guidance on how to pot up the plants and all equipment will be provided but please bring along gardening gloves, if you have any. On arrival ask for Katie (contact number if needed: 07414 526808).
