Discover Welling
Discover Welling is a community group which aims to help highlight all the good things about Welling as well as finding ways to help enhance the community spirit of Welling. We exist to build on what is good, not complain about things.

Welcome to GoodGym Bexley!

We're a friendly and sociable group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. We meet every Wednesday evening to get active and do a physical task to help the community organisations and charities in our area.

The task

The Christmas lights in Welling are organised by Discover Welling and paid for by crowd-funding, including sponsorship by local businesses and individuals.

Stickers on lamp posts along the high street display the names of the funders, to say thank you for their support. After the festive season the stickers need to be removed and that's where we come in.

We'll be peeling off the stickers, and leave things looking neat and tidy.

πŸ“When and where

We'll start the task from the cannon on Welling High Street at 7pm. The cannon is at the junction with Hook Lane, approx. postcode DA16 3PA, what3words ///volunteered.vine.beyond. If meeting us there please leave a comment below.

Getting there

You can:

  • Make your own way and meet us there.

  • Meet at 6.35pm at Crook Log Leisure Centre, Brampton Road, Bexleyheath DA7 4HH for a 1.4k run or walk led by Sue πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ.

  • Meet at 6.35pm at Costa Coffee, 19 Blackfen Parade, Sidcup DA15 9LU for a 2.1k run lead by Sarah πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ.

On our run/walk we always have a back-marker so no-one is left behind - we're about achieving something together, so you'll always be welcome no matter what your pace is.

Afterwards we'll run back together or you can make your own way home.

Please leave a comment below to say how you are getting to the task.
