After last weeks rather wet run this week we were graced with some warm evening sunshine, perfect for a spot of gardening at the wonderful charity Certitude! They provide personalised support for people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs, so a really good cause!
They are having a BBQ this week and needed our help to spruce up some of their outdoor space and give the garden a good watering after all the lovely warm weather we've been having.
This week we were joined by newcomer Heidi who really got stuck in and was a great addition to the team, we hope she'll become a regular!
After a slightly longer task commute of 2 miles we were greeted at the ARC (Activity and Resource Centre) in Perivale by Nina who showed us around the gardens and equipped us with some hoes ready for some weeding!
Rachel took on the task of watering while Michael and Jenni began to attack the weeds giving up quite quickly with the hoes and going for the hands on approach instead. Caroline set herself the mission of clearing some ivy that was taking over one of the flower beds and everything was soon looking wonderful!
Time flew by and before we knew it it was time to leave but before we headed off Nina gave us a tour of their fantastic facility. They have lots of different rooms set up for all the activities they offer and each has been adapted to help with the needs of those they help. Rachel spotted a great sign on the way out
When life puts you in tough situations, don't say 'why me' say 'try me'
A great thought to take away from the evening!
En route back to base we made use of one of the many great green spaces Ealing has to offer in Cleveland Park for a little fitness session, with time getting on the gang completed a quick core triathlon of plank swimmers, bicycle crunches and running mountain climbers before the final jog back down to Ealing Broadway.
A quick cool down and stretch and we were done!
Thank you all for coming and I hope to see you all next week when we'll be delivering newletters for Ealing135, you can find out about the task and sign up here.
Happy Running!
