The Root of The Problem!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Portsmouth.
- Friday, 7th of August 2020
Today, we were at Mrs G's to help her finish the window clean that she'd started, but couldn't reach the high places, and some gardening. Maxine being tallest did a great job with some soapy water and cloth, finishing in quick time. Mel in the meantime got on with weeding the flower beds, and getting rid of the weeds along the fencing and between the paving slabs. We also pulled out some blackberry bush tendrils poking through from next door's garden - no blackberries unfortunately! The main bug bear for Mrs G though was the huge purple leafed bush which she didn't like at all. Mel lopped off as much foliage as possible and both tried, without success, to get underneath the root and dig it right out. Even jumping up and down on the spade couldn't get down far enough! We agreed with Mrs G that right now it had to stay, but she was happy that it had at least opened up the space and revealed some other lovely plants. After moving the garden furniture back in place, and fixing back up some trellis along the fence top to keep the local cats out, we left a very happy lady and took away a full black bin liner of garden rubbish.
