Our Environmental Mission Statement

The following statement was was developed by a group of GoodGymers from across the UK and approved by GoodGym's trustees in March 2022.

GoodGym aims to make maximum positive environmental impact by increasing biodiversity and green space through our tasks. We promote active travel and encourage sustainable behaviours in our community and partners.

Our four overarching commitments are:

• GoodGym promotes active travel by making it fun, inclusive and rewarding
• GoodGym promotes awareness of positive environmental behaviour amongst our community Maintain and grow green space
• GoodGym increases biodiversity in cities
• GoodGym aims to have minimal negative impact on the environment

GoodGym promotes active travel by making it fun, inclusive and rewarding

Our sessions involve running, walking and cycling and we encourage all of the GoodGym community to use active travel where possible on GoodGym sessions and beyond.

GoodGym promotes awareness of positive environmental behaviour amongst our community

We work to learn from our partners and experts, and inform our community about maximising the environmental impact of our sessions and our activities as individuals.

GoodGym maintains and grows green space

We aim to make doing something environmentally positive and impactful easy and quick. We will have green tasks in all areas and to do more of them. We will be the biggest green exercise movement in the UK and actively seek more partnerships with suitable organisations.

GoodGym increases biodiversity in cities

We will educate ourselves on important aspects of biodiversity that we can make an impact on and build this into our tasks, communication and activity.

GoodGym aims to have minimal negative impact on the environment.

GoodGym will reduce to a minimum its use of single use plastics, consider carefully the impact of any suppliers and seek to use recycled equipment. We encourage reuse or recycling of apparel and footwear.

With the continued help and input across our organisation, GoodGym will continue to monitor and update it's environmental mission statement to ensure it aligns in the best way possible for a better, cleaner future for us all to enjoy.
