Friday evening, and two Goodgymers made their way to Azalea for this evening’s task. We had been ask to lift a tumble drier off a washing machine so that the washing machine can be fixed next week. Although Gill was feeling slightly rough after having a bug, she and Martin worked together first to clear the space in front of the washing machine and then working out how to undo the strapping which kept the two appliances together. Then it was quite a simple task, with a little muscle, to lift the tumble drier clear. Job done in record time and we’ve offered for GoodGym to return once the washing machine has been fixed and the drier needs lifting back into position.

After moving 3 filing cabinets from one room to another using a rather suspect set of wheels, the team set about hanging a TV on the wall in another room. There was a little bit of musical chairs to be played when making room to complete the task but eventually we were able to drill down and get that tv mounted on the wall. Another great effort team and the charity were really grateful 🙏

Tracey at Azalea needed some help to relocate a TV and move some office cabinets. Three GoodGym heavyweights arrived to take on this heavyweight task!

Once we'd figured out how to detach the giant TV from the wall bracket we moved it through to the office, however, before it could go on the wall in there we had to move a couple of cabinets out of the way.

We unloaded the cabinets of all the heavy stationary and files and then moved the still very heavy metal cabinets to a different space.

Space cleared, we could get to the wall and attach the TV mount in its new position before finally hanging the TV and testing it out, still works! 😀

A hot and sweaty Wednesday night saw the group get together to deliver flyers to High Town homes, inviting residents to a wellbeing and juicing event by local charity Azalea. Being so hot and not having a huge distance to cover we stuck with walking so the whole group could stick together on the way.

With 500 flyers in hand we then split up into two groups to tackle different areas and with a group of 10 we were empty handed in no time at all.

That just left one more task for the night. Gill had left a batch of GoodGym cupcakes at the pub to celebrate reaching 300 good deeds, so we made our way over there and enjoying a round of cooling drinks and cupcakes. 🧁 🍻 🍹

Yesterday evening Gill David and myself went along to Azalea, to return all the boxes and bedding that the GG Luton team had moved on a group run a few months ago, back to the newly refurbished basement area. Our task hosts were very grateful to see us and we made light work of the task before us. It took us around 30 minutes to move all the goods from the 1st floor down 2 flights of stairs to the basement. It was sweaty work but we dud a good job and took a well deserved sit down at the end on the sofas that under all the bits we had moved. Well done team.

7 GoodGymers met at the Azalea Offices where there was a big task ahead of us. The charity had planned to reorganise the offices and needed office furniture and boxes of resources moving. The contents of one office was to be moved down one floor, and the contents of another office was going upstairs. The team soon got the measure of the task and got stuck into moving desks and tables, empty and carrying filing cabinets, hoovering, carting boxes and crates full of miscellaneous items and helping with logistics. Despite some language challenges they all worked incredibly hard and the hosts at Azalea were so impressed with the amazing work and team spirit of our group of angels.
