Bromley Mencap is an independent, self-funded charity working with disabled people. Based in the London Borough of Bromley, we’ve been supporting disabled people since 1951.
Each year, we provide support for over 1,400 families through our telephone helpline, over 200 adults experience better lives through our adult care or leisure services, 180 families benefit from our children and family services and we provide employment support to over 250 disabled adults.
2 GoodGymers have supported Bromley Mencap with 2 tasks.

One thing I love about goodgym is how many skills I've picked up along the way.
I've learned how to fit loft insulation in a church, how to plant and look after trees to ensure they survive, and improved my flatpack furniture assembly skills (from terrible instructions).
Today I (mostly) single-handedly made a planter from some wooden sleepers. I had some good advice from Bromley Mencap's facilities person Michelle, and Caroline from the charity provided her steady hands and I sawed and connected the pieces together. Another skill for the collection.
Forgot to take a pic, so here's a birdbox I made (with some of those transferable skills...)

It was nice to meet Sara and shift 4 heavy wooden sleepers for Bromley Mencap this evening.
We're building some new planters with them in a few weeks time which will house some new plants outside their community hub in Norman Park! 🌷
A great workout for a great organisation! 💪
