Load of Rubbish

Wednesday 11th September

Written by Liam

This evening we started back at 1000 Trades and made our way down to our adopted spot on the canal. We've not been down for a while which meant there was plenty of picking to do!

Between us we managed to get a nice bag full, dropped off at Aston Lock and made our way back via the city centre. Great work today James!

Is it coming home?!

Tuesday 25th June

Written by Jonny Carter

Tonight GG Brum had the Euros get together, but first we had some litter picking to do.

Yep, we headed to the canal towpath for the first time in months! Therefore it goes without saying there was quite a bit of litter!

Steve, James and Jonny were armed with the litter pickers and Laura and Morwenna were ready with the bags. Once they were full we headed for a run back along the canal with all of us noticing what a difference we had made in a short space of time :)

Once back at 1000 Trades we headed upstairs to watch the football. The first half was pretty turgid stuff to say the least! It did improve a little in the 2nd half, but hardly great!

Oh well, the draw seems to have opened up for England with Spain, Germany, France and Portugal being on the other side to England, but they'll definitely have to improve if they want to get to the final!

Is it coming home?? I'll let you decide..........

A Very Key Task!

Tuesday 25th April 2023

Written by Jonny Carter

It was the Raleigh launch tonight with them now partnering with GG. Unfortunately our choccies haven't arrived just yet, so hopefully next week!

It was lovely to have Olivia of GoodGym Greenwich with us tonight who was 'fresh' from her London Marathon exploits! It goes without saying, she was one of our walkers tonight!

Laura and Olivia set off on their walk to the canal, with the runners not far behind. One of the first things we found was a key on the towpath floor, we decided to leave it where it was as hopefully somebody may come back looking for it.

In total on a pleasant, yet cool evening we collected three bags of rubbish, which our photographer Eve papped for us.

Once done we strolled with the walkers for a while before we ran back to 1000 Trades, whilst taking in a loop by Colmore Row, so Ben could retrieve his bag just in time before his office closed.

On returning it was a quick stretch whilst we waited a couple of minutes for our walkers, so I would say that was near on perfect timing!

Mic. Drop.

Tuesday 19th April 2022

Written by Liam

The GoodGym Birmingham gang certainly had a touch of the X-Factor about it them this evening. Today we helped clean up our regular section of the canal in anticipation of a fair amount of rubbish following the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. Along with the normal litter pick loot, we managed to pick up a microphone in amongst the discarded bottles and cans. Morwenna tried her best to belt out her latest album, in true X-Factor tradition. Once the singing and litter picking were complete, with the mic-dropped into the rubbish bags, we made our way to St Paul's Square for a little HIIT session.

Everyone put in a great effort, with Tom leading the way back to base before a well earned drink!
