🎵 The Beamin' Father of Peet Street

Tuesday 17th December 2024

Written by Gwyn Williams

Tracey and Gwyn met Fr Peter at Peet Street to collect leaflets advising of St Luke's Church's Christmas arrangements. We had one enthusiastic passer-by who took a leaflet as we went along, saving us a journey. I met a friendly cat and we managed to slalom around the 🐕 💩 hazards this time. Tracey provided spoons and bags and I was spoon-fed and had everything in the bag!

Poo-tling with leaflets

Sunday 10th November 2024

Written by Gwyn Williams

Tracey and Gwyn collected leaflets for Saturday's extraordurenary Advent Fair that we were guano be dropping through local letterboxes from Anne. The only way to do this job is manureally. With a quick "poop-poop" we set off dunging the leaflets in letterboxes around the church. The big job was done quickly (it was our turd year doing it) but we discovered that we had (different coloured) dog dirt on our shoes at the end. Poo gosh.

Park, Lane, May Fair

Monday 13th May 2024

Written by Gwyn Williams

Tracey and I picked up some leaflets from Ann of St Luke's Church (which doesn't have Green Gables, sadly). They're having a May Fair there. Using Tracey's spoon method, we distributed them to the houses surrounding the church and up a lane to the Liversage Trust housing, which has the feel of a little park. I accidentally gave one house one of Tracey's spoons! On the route, we found a fragrant shop and were tempted in. We had a lovely fresh Punjabi meal. Mmmmm.

Running rings around the church

Sunday 19th November 2023

Written by Gwyn Williams

The Church of St Bartholomew and St Luke are having a Christmas Fair. Tracey and Gwyn collected leaflets from Ann at the church (catching the end of the service in the process). We delivered them (using Tracey's spoon method!) to the surrounding houses. The spoons were very welcome when there was a dog behind the door. We saw Ann again at the end, and we had a lovely chat.

Fair's Fair

Sunday 4th June 2023

Written by Derby runner

On Saturday 10th June, St Luke's Church will be holding a summer fayre between 10 and 12, and GoodGym were invited to help promote the event by delivering flyers to the surrounding houses.

Pete had begun the good deed in advance, having already collected the leaflets, so he gave Tracey her fair share, and we set to work posting them through the local letterboxes. We covered a fair distance; almost as long as a junior parkrun, though quite a bit slower!

You are welcome to come along to the event, and enjoy the fare, including delicious cakes as well as other refreshments.

Confusing the Cats

Sunday 20th November 2022

Written by Derby runner

Gwyn and Tracey were very pleased to be back at St Luke's Church, helping out with leaflet deliveries to promote their Christmas Fair.

We were given an extremely warm welcome by Ann and other members of the congregation, who generously offered us tea and biscuits. We were delighted when Ann told us that our previous session of deliveries back in April had helped them to achieve a record attendance at their Spring Fair! We hope that these people, and others, will join in the Christmas festivities, too.

In just over an hour we walked over 2.5 km and delivered around 200 leaflets, much to the amusement of the local cat population, who seemed to think that we were mad walking around when we could have joined them lazing about in patches of warm sunshine.

St Luke's Church Christmas Fair will be held on 26th November, 10 am - 12 noon at 128 Parliament Street, DE22 3RT.

Everyone is welcome to come along, grab some bargains, and enjoy a cuppa and a mince pie. You may even win a prize!
