It is such a glorious morning today. I was able to combine two of my favourite things to do on a Sunday morning - litterpicking and marshalling at junior parkrun. There were 102 youngsters out on this cold but sunny morning in Pitshanger Park so lots of high fives and cheers. Not much litter in the park which is great but I managed to fill a bag on my way home - not so great!

I stayed on after coffee time to help out in the kitchen - and serve even more coffee and tea over lunch. Today’s fare was vegetable and lentil soup, pasta (either meat or vegetable sauce) and apple crumble with custard. It was all a huge hit with the clients.

I was back at Ealing Soup Kitchen this morning serving coffee, tea and bowls of cereal. It was a busy session - even the hot water machine gave up at one point. Not surprising with the numerous pots of coffee and tea required. Luckily it was back in operation quite quickly so the clients were kept happy. The supply of chocolate biscuits helped!

Early Sunday morning and it was another big turn up from both the children but also the volunteers. Kash, Gabriela and Steph Ducat arrived after a small fitness session in the park to join both Sevan and Jacquie. As there was a lot of volunteers some roles were doubled up so we had double marshalling to keep the children out of trouble around the course. Gabriela and Kash were at marshal point 8 and were giving high 5's. Steph Ducat was also doubling up as tail walker : yes 2 tails walkers today! Sevan had the task of giving out the tokens, but realised that token number 67 was not in the batch. Will token 67 make it's way back to the next park run?In the meantime it was high security and no messing around at the funnel with Jacquie and 3 other volunteers. Another successful junior park run with 105 children getting over the finish line.

I was back at Ealing Soup Kitchen this morning where chef Andrew cooked an amazing batch of fish pies. Vegetarian option available as always. I started off cutting up pineapples for food bags then moved on to the tea station. I’m not sure what was in the air today but we got through a lot of teas, coffees, biscuits plus bowls of cereal. It’s always a pleasure for me to be serving refreshments as I get the chance to chat to the clients and see how they are doing.

I was back at Ealing Soup Kitchen this morning after a knee injury meant a few weeks off. I restricted myself to two hours (on physio’s advice) but was able to get stuck in straight away. Chef today was Vinka cooking chicken escalopes with chips, peas and carrots. My task was to dip the dozens of escalopes in flour, egg and breadcrumbs. It all looked delicious as she was preparing it but sadly I wasn’t around for lunch. Maybe next time!

I marshalled again at Pitshanger Junior parkrun this morning and litterpicked the park while I was there. Another bumper group of youngsters - 155 juniors ran round the park and I collected one bag of litter 😊

There were 158 youngsters at Pitshanger Junior parkrun this morning - the highest number to date. And 25 volunteers to ensure they all got safely round the course. I was marshalling along the path by the river and they just kept coming! A lovely morning got so many young ones out of bed and running in the sunshine.

I was once again on finish token duty at Southall parkrun today. Unfortunately volunteers were few and far between this morning and at least one of the faster runners doubled up as a volunteer. 96 runners but they were reasonably spaced out so I was able to manage without dropping any tokens! It’s a lovely event and one of the friendliest parkruns out there so it’s always a pleasure to help out.
