With our volunteering session at What If? cancelled, Hazel and Laura made the most of the evening by lacing up their trainers for a 4k run around Edgeley.
The route took them past the local reservoirs, where the views made the effort worthwhile.
To keep spirits high, the conversation flowed easily โ books, library visits, and reading recommendations became the running theme.
What began as a change of plan turned into a refreshing way to combine fitness, and favourite pastimes.

Thanks, Laura, for creating a trail for this run. I loved it! To more cancelled sessions haha joke :D

This week, five GoodGymers returned to Grit Studiosโ newly acquired building to add the finishing touches of paint, completing the transformation of the space.
Having already made a strong start last week, the team came back with plenty of energy to finish off the job.
Together they added the final coats, brightening every corner and leaving the rooms looking fresh, welcoming, and ready for creativity to take root.
The building is now almost ready to open its doors as a community hub for art projects, workshops, and exhibitions โ a space where Stockport residents and artists alike can come together to collaborate and create.

Five GoodGymers rolled up their sleeves at Edgeley Community Church to tackle the weeds and tidy up the outdoor space.
Check out the egg which Hazel found in the undergrowth!
Armed with gloves, trowels, and plenty of energy, they worked together to clear paths, borders, and green areas, making the outside look much more welcoming.
The effort not only brightened up the church grounds but also created a more inviting space for everyone in the community to enjoy.
A big thank you to the team for their hard work and community spirit! ๐ฑโจ

Stockportโs creative future is looking brighter โ literally! Tonight, five GoodGymers rolled up their sleeves (and maybe a few paint-splattered cuffs) to help transform Grit Studiosโ newest space, recently acquired from Stockport Council, into a welcoming hub for community art projects.
Armed with rollers, brushes, and boundless enthusiasm, the team brought fresh white colour and energy to the walls, turning a once-empty building into a space brimming with possibility.
Between brush strokes, ideas flowed for exhibitions, workshops, and creative collaborations that will soon fill the rooms.
This new home will be a place where artists, residents, and curious visitors can come together to make, share, and celebrate art in all its forms.
Grit Studios is hugely grateful to the volunteers whose hard work has painted the first strokes in this exciting new chapter for Stockportโs creative community.

Tonight, six dedicated GoodGymers came together for a successful session of Balsam Bashing in Happy Valley.
Armed with gloves, determination, and a shared love for nature, the group spent over an hour clearing the invasive Himalayan Balsam from the area.
This fast-growing plant, known for outcompeting native species, was carefully removed by hand to help restore balance to the local ecosystem. We worked efficiently and with great spirit, managing to clear a significant section of the valley.
It was great to welcome Jonny for his first GoodGym task and welcome Jamie who's recently relocated from GoodGym Cardiff.

Laura and I volunteered at Fletcher Moss parkrun event number 258. 476 runners and walkers completed the 5 km course on a pleasant August morning ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ฃLots of buggy runners and dogs! ๐ถ๐พ๐
Laura was park walker. Ben, ably assisted by Juno, helped with the pre event course check & set up, then marshalled at Mount Fletcher (#3). We had a small contingent of cheers and clappers to encourage the participants back up the slope for their second lap!
22 volunteers helped in all ๐ฆบ๐ณ
