12 Hackney GoodGymers ran 4K to help Hackney Parks prepare Broadway Market Green for the big Green Flag inspection!!
Starting off the evening with a sun kissed run down to Haggerston park to pick up the tools for the evening. A lovely stroll back to Broadway market all fooled up finding a hidden gem of a green space.
Splitting up into groups we had the sanding crew rubbing away of 3 benches getting the grim off the and taking them back to a lovely natural shade.
We then had 2 mini insect loggeries being constructed. Some serious hard graft to dig down in tough ground before positioning logs to make new housing for the greens insect population!
All filled in and sturdy with a job well done we reversed the process and stomped back to Haggerston before a longer loop back to the Bakehouse to complete the evening.
See you next week for a trip to Broadway Day Nursary to help clear and create a better inside/outside space for the toddlers.

11 Hackney GoodGymers said a get well to Basil the puppy and dominated a 90 minute Running Fitness session in Victoria Park.
With our task cancelled this evening as Basil the puppy of task organiser Margaret has been taken ill so Margaret was not around to host us this evening.
We jetted off to the beautiful Victoria park and got to work on a varied running fitness session.
After scouting out the loop, mobilising our joints and activating our muscles we hit some progressively paced loops locking into specific effort ranges to power around the circuit.
With the paces ramping up with flipped it to a high five and return relay to really get our heart pumping over a sustained distance. A few perfectly paced reps and we went to some fast footed cadence drills to encourage a bit more speed and coordination.
With our wheels spinning we finished our running with some speedy continuous relays!!
With the legs worked hard we got strong with an epic core conditioning routine to test our mind and body and promote some real functional strength.
Hey session everyone!! Hope you all enjoyed it!!
See you next week for our visit to Hackney Parks.

21 day light enabled Hackney GoodGymers ran 6k to grab all the litter we could find in Abney Park Cemetery!
A strong group assembled this evening for a wide spread task all over the large Abney Park pathways and vegetation to grab as much litter from the park as possible!
With a full safety briefing complete we split up into mini groups and headed out to explore the park and pick as much stuff that shouldn’t be there as possible!
Plastics, cigarette buts, bottle caps, beer cans and even a frying pan!! Were all collected and removed.
Picks like this help to not only clear the park but also discourage litter dropping as people can see it is taken care of.
A speedier 3k Run back to base with a few of the squad pushing the pace.
Great to have you along and hope to see you next week for our Hollybush visit.
Best

31 Buoyant GoodGymers feed of the Hackney Half Energy to dominate 90 minutes of GoodGym excellence!
Flying high after our 21.1km of Running fun on Sunday we had a bumper group this evening!! Great to have Goodgym first timers along for their maiden voyage as well as everyone else who came out for a top session!!
After a bit of a longer chat than normal we headed off negotiating the Hackney backstreets to take us to Clapton Square to meet Hackney Park Ranger Bruce who had the tools ready for us us to dive straight in!
Dividing up into two groups we gloved up grabbed a hoe and got weeding! Making great progress in the almost Jungle on the Southside of the park we have the flower beds a though weeding with expert hoeing, take out every weed in side before bagging the weeds into 1 of the 20 crammed oversized bin bags we filled.
With 40 minutes of solid weeding literally in the bag we had a treat as Chima had scouted out 2 Strava segments for us to hunt the records for! As a warm up for our bursts of speed Chima hit us to the core and got us fully engaged in some tough core exercises with 3 back to back moves in 3 toning minutes!
We then zoomed back to base registering very well on the Strava Leaderboards with turn of Foot!
Next week is a very special celebration as Eva hits her 100th GoodDeed and Clair her 50th needless to say we will head out after the Group Run!! A triumphant return to Spoons on Mare Street awaits which will double up as a craft workshop to make the Hackney Team flag for the GoodGym Olympics!!
Struggling with GG website at moment so might take a day or so to get Group Run up but as always it will be going ahead so see you there!!
Smooth Running
