26 amazing GoodGyming GoodGymers ran 6k to Abney Park Cemetery to clear a kilometre if concrete path of mud and muck.
Big shout out to the GG first timers this week!! Very warm welcome!! Hope you enjoyed the session and will be back for more very soon!!
Huge thank you to everyone for helping me out!! From ** Amanda and Vinney** offering the use of their bikes, Chi and Clair leading the running, ** Liz** dominating the photography and all the well wishes, very much appreciated!!! Thank you!!
So 3k running up to Stokey to meet Quentin at the imposing gates of the magnificent Abney Park Cemetery. Grabbing the carefully placed tools and heading deep into the park to where even the many Abney regulars were not quite sure where we were.
With the dirt pathways having been lovingly reinforced over the last 6 months we turned our attention to the network of concrete paths that after the rough weather had become very muddy and debris filled. As these pathways are very narrow there is no way around some of these hazards so it was down to us to clear the way!!
With a massive group and some pumping music from the neighbours we worked to a serious beat and tore up and down, left and right along every path in sight!! Clearing with expert precision and the occasional lunge for optimal scraping angle!
With most of the pathways in the back half of the parks beautifully cleared we munched on some pannetoni from Liz and zipped back to base!!
Thank you all from coming out tonight and look forward to seeing you again next week!
Enjoy

13 Hackney GooGymers ran 5k to Hollybush Community Garden to help rake up a tonne of cuttings, move a whole compost mound and create a big hotel!
Great to have you all along for a cracking GG evening!!
Welcoming in our GoodGym newbie and nearly newbies we set off running South to to the multi award winning amazingness that is Hollybush Community garden to meet the brilliant Margaret and Michael along with Basil the dog!
Splitting up into groups we got shifting!! The compost crew headed off into the mud and madness of the compost mound digging deep to move as much of the compost into barrows and shifting the compost to a new store.
The rakers then got busy with a team effort to clear all the cuttings from the electric cutter. Filling up a tonne and bit bag full of wooden cuttings and dragging it out for it to be taken to the tip.
We then fully focused on the bug hotel! Flipping cut slices of wood and scraping the mud off the bottom then piling them up to create a very enticing bug hotel ready for its first guests!
With the task complete we took a slightly longer canal loop back to base and after a few running drop offs on way back we got to smell the fantastic cooking in the Bakehouse to get us extra hungry for our way home.
See you next week for a trip to Abney

18 strong Hackney GoodGymers ran time 4.5k to Wilton estate to lift, plant and shovel our way to Tuesday night glory!!
Welcome along our GG first timers to the running party!!
Few announcements!!
Next week Amanda and Franky hit the magic 50 GoodDeeds!! to celebrate we will be heading out after the session to grab some pizza on Broadway market. Be great to have you along!
If you fancy a pre Big Half run on Sunday or just a 10k run around Viccy Park join Chi on Sunday to get your legs moving!! info here.
Not running Hackney Half?? Fancy joining the GG volunteering point?? Check all the info out here and join the party!
So we ran a random route and took in a bit of Hackney drama along the way! Covering a nice 3.5k to Wilton estate to get the blood pumping and body temperature rising before we split into 3 groups and got cracking!!
We have the Shovellers who had to battle the extra weight of saturated soil as they shovelled and shifted the 2 tonnes of premium soil into the main garden and half a tonne of regular soil into the mini garden.
We had the tree planters digging deep to create a hole for 10 fruit trees. Pick axing our way to glory in a tough task happily the rain was good for softening the ground.
The final group got a serious workout!! Heading off to the Hackney Empire to collect a huge amount of wood! Walking it 500 metres back to he garden it was a massive effort on the 3 trips back to the garden!!
With time tight we zipped back to base. Mobilised our upper body after the tough workout and headed off into the night!!
See you next week
