Mission: Brixton Windmill Allotments Support

This week our fantastic crew of do-gooders traded their usual pavement pounding for some serious dirt work at Brixton Windmill Allotments! ๐ŸŒพ

The Mission Brief ๐Ÿ“‹

Our wonderful community member Annick needed a helping hand (or seven!) with some essential gardening tasks. We were ready to get our hands dirty - literally!

What We Got Up To ๐Ÿ’ช

  • Manure Madness: We shovelled mountains of the good stuff into wheelbarrows. It was a crappy job, but someone had to do it! ๐Ÿ’ฉ
  • Spreading the Love: Distributed said manure across the planting patches and bathtub garden - talk about fertilizing friendships! ๐ŸŒฑ
  • Apple-solutely Essential Work: Collected apples for both composting and juicing. We really apple-ied ourselves to the task! ๐ŸŽ

Star Performers โญ

We were absolutely thrilled to welcome Andrej to his very first GoodGym session - what a way to break yourself in! Welcome to the family! ๐ŸŽ‰

Huge shoutout to Anna who arrived looking the business in her official GG running jacket - she was definitely dressed for success! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธโœจ

And of course, our regular dream team was out in full force: Katie, Ben, and Michael - you legends never fail to turnip when we need you! ๐Ÿฅ•

The Verdict ๐Ÿ†

Another ground-breaking session in the books! We left Annickโ€™s allotment looking berry good indeed. Until next time, keep on running and doing good!

Keep calm and GoodGym on! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

This task supported
Brixton Windmill
A little bit of history in central Brixton!

The Friends of Windmill Gardens (FoWG) were formed in 2003 with three aims: * to get the Grade II listed Brixton Windmill restored and opened for public visits โ€“ in 2002 it had been put on English Heritage's buildings at risk register; * to make Windmill Gardens park a more welcoming space for local people; * to have a new education centre at the windmill. Windmill Gardens gained a Green Flag Community Award in 2015 and we have just been judged again so our fingers are crossed that we will retain the award for the next two years.
