Report written by Kati Law
Three GoodGymers ran from Lockwood Park over the hill to Royd’s Hall Orchard, even finding a new bridge across the canal that Louise didn’t know about. Discovering new places around town is one of the many things I like about GoodGym. Fellow GoodGymers, Wendy and Richard, joined us at the Orchard and we quickly set to work helping the Friends of Royd’s Hall Orchard to rescue apple trees from our the brambles and nettles which were threatening to swamp them. We snacked on blackberries and apples as we worked. Also a big thank you to Gill, one of the Friends of Royd’s Hall Orchard, who provided us with some very welcome tea and ginger flapjack. We set Gill’s son Daniel the task of coming up with this week’s run report title and he actually came up with a whole joke! (I hope I have got this right!) What do you call a cooking apple covered in blackberry bushes? - a brambley apple! After an hour’s work and several trees rescued we ran the flatter (but longer) way back to Lockwood Park via St Andrews work. Great work team!
