What a lovely, fresh morning for a gardening session and it was great to be at the Hogsmill Community Garden as it's a piece of paradise. Rachel, Petra, Melissa, Alexandra and Victoria met up and had a catch up with Julie. She offered around a delicious tea-infused fruitcake before the session (and halfway through!) to keep us energised in our task.

The tasks for today included moving a large planter, planting hedges round the border and digging out a channel for a brickwork edge so that a new area was ready for planting. We got to task. Petra, Alexandra and Rachel filled up the wheelbarrows with the bricks and ferried them to the planting area and then got busy with the tools. Rachel started to create the channel with a hoe and Alexandra and Petra got the trowels and added in the bricks - keeping the edges symmetrical and in order. Melissa and Victoria were in charge of planting the bushes round the hedge and followed up by weeding.

An hour went by really quickly and soon it was time for tea, cake and a chat. After chatting about the joys of energetic children, living in Germany and having a French monarchy in England in the Middle Ages we felt like we had covered all the pressing topics of the day and headed to finish up our tasks and tidy up.

Lovely to meet Victoria and Alexandra - well done on your first session! Hope to meet you at another task soon.
