It has been a beautiful sunny, hot few days! Thankfully it was leaflet drop tonight and we agreed to a walk / run depending on how everyone was feeling as it was still so warm!

We have been asked to deliver leaflets by the local Chestnut Nursery to raise awareness of two staff members taking on a Skydive to fundraise for their volunteers welfare. The nursery is a project of SWOP (Sheltered Work Opportunities Project). The project provides meaningful work in a supportive and pressure free environment for adults with a severe and enduring mental illness. I know myself personally how important this nursery is to those that work there and their families.

We met at The new ClubHub cafe, which used to be our base when it was Daveena's. We were aiming for the local area and postcodes so headed out through the park and around the local roads of Baitor and Whitecliff. It is amazing how many beautiful homes are tucked away in the quiet back roads!

We felt the air of summer as we passed a cricket match in full whites, we passed families enjoying a picnic tea on the grass and those driving boats in the lake.

We headed up and down the roads, took a sneaky diversion into Baitor park where once again Hannah showed us what a commitment to Yoga can do to your body strength as she took to the (high) monkey bars! Robert was seen in the corner of our eyes sliding down a slide whilst Elizabeth took the pics and had a go on the wobbly Bridge! Nicola had the longest walk as she walked to and from the task. We all completed over 3.5 miles despite it being a majority walk!

I'm pretty sure walking is just as tough as running sometimes - up and down the driveways, steps and pathways of each house!

I hope you all enjoy your last few days of this hot summer sun!

We are part of the Sheltered Work Opportunties Project charity with Cherry Tree Nursery, Bournemouth

We are set up to address the need for meaningful occupation in a supportive, non pressured but realistic working environment, for adults with severe and enduring mental illness, who we refer to as volunteers.
