Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)
Running late from attending another community mission, Sam found himself in a room full of volunteers! Aimee, Florence, Maria and Simon were busy taking items out of the shed outside to bring into the main sorting room as with these sessions there are two main tasks:
Initially, Aimee and another GROAD volunteer were busy opening and sorting out donations that were being dropped off whilst Maria and Simon put clothes on hangers on the rail and then moved to putting the rest of the clothes on the tables (wherever there was a spare space). Florence and Sam took care of the children toys table.
To be honest, we were helping each other out wherever we could. There were about 5-6 drop offs during the hour and the biggest drop-off came from a woman who runs a baby bank, but unfortunately we could not accept girls and boys underwear. She understood and took it back. By the time, Sam had to rush over to the next community mission at Old Alleynian Rugby Club (also for Get Rid Of And Donate), everything was pretty much done! After taking our group photo, we went off to enjoy the rest of our Sunday!
Massive kudos to Florence and Maria for attending their first GoodGym session and I hope you'd enjoyed it! It's great to see plenty of volunteers and we just had about enough to do. Remember, there's plenty of goodness happening, so check out the GoodGym website.
Don’t let your rejected items end up abandoned on streets or in landfills, where they can sit disintegrating and damaging our environment. Reach out to Get Rid Of and Donate, arrange a free collection for your unwanted goods and help us be there for everyone who needs us.
