Fuel shortages and food shortages continue to make things challenging at Oxford Mutual Aid food bank. As the only source of emergency food available in Oxford 7 days a week they are a lifeline to many, and with the Universal Credit uplift being removed yesterday the help is only going to be more in demand over the coming weeks.

As we always do on Wednesdays, we worked through the list of parcel requests on the regular delivery route, and then moved over to the Emergency request list to prepare those too. We tried to do some hall maintenance jobs such as taking out food waste and stocking shelves, but we were a bit up against the clock this week so didn't manage very much on those tasks. However, everyone got their food deliveries, which is by far the most important thing!

Stats from the last week:

  • 247 regular food parcels were sent out, supporting 837 people
  • 55 Emergency food parcels were delivered, supporting 153 people
  • 242 prepared meals were delivered to 81 households
  • 33 parcels were sent out to people housed in temporary accomodation
  • Food was shared with Syrian Sisters to support 50 people
  • Food was shared with Oxfordshire Asian Women's Voice in Rose Hill. That supported 68 people

Thank you for taking part in this BIG voluntary effort. You're awesome.
