2 Goodgymers enjoyed a beautiful evening strolling along the Grand Union Canal between Leamington Spa and Warwick, picking litter as we went.

Starting at Tachbrook Road bridge after a short jog from the Pump Rooms on the Parade, we picked our way along the canal towpath. Given the lovely weather there were lots of people out running, walking and cycling along the canal, including two people that went whizzing by in their kayaks before we were able to get a photo! Many people we passed were extremely appreciative of our litter picking efforts with words of encouragement which was lovely and gave us that feel good fuzzy feeling :-)

Unusual pieces of litter included an entire lunchbox with what looked like a lunch of left overs from the previous night's dinner - no idea how that got there - a tennis ball and a champagne cork!

As always, there was lots of wildlife to enjoy along the canal including a swan with her 7 (now rather large) cygnets.

After picking our way all the way to Warwick we left the two bags of rubbish that we had collected in a secure place ready for collection by the Canal and River Trust tomorrow and enjoyed a jog back into town. Taking in Victoria Park on the way back meant we could have a nose at all the exciting setting up ready for the Commonwealth Games bowls event which is taking place there in a matter of days. We also admired the brand new play equipment in the park which was being well used by lots of children and big kids alike.

Another beautiful evening in this little piece of the countryside right within our towns - lovely!

Are there any bits of canal in the UK that you haven't run on Liz?! Think it was probably rather dark whilst you went through this stretch though! You'll have to come back with us on our next litter pick to appreciate it in full daylight :-)
