What better way for GoodGym to help a charity than set up a gym for the British Heart Foundation! They had all the equipment in storage and the space on the floor, they just needed the muscle to get it all into position. Who ya gonna call? GoodGym-busters!
After a brief meet at the Quaker Centre where we got to welcome three new attendees, Janet, Pierre and Catherine, we headed off to Fairfield for a little warm-up in the light rain. We split into two groups of runners and walkers and started our different paths to the BHF shop in Eden Walk Shopping Centre.
We were greeted by Christine, the store manager, and she welcomed us with an enticing table full of pizza, fruit and water. She explained the task and once we had finished with the snacks, half the group were taken to the storage area where all the donated stock is kept. All the exercise equipment was loaded into the lifts and the other half of the team were on standby waiting to unload and set up in the entrance area. What a great way to get the muscles working - squats, lifts, pulling and pushing - a great overall workout!
It took the full hour to move everything into place and arrange it to entice the shoppers to buy when they visited the next day. Really fun and what better way to head to the social at The Albion than with a belly full of pizza - yum.
