Trapped in Zone OneThis activity originally started in 2022 as an employment project called Moving On. This has now been integrated into a Trapped in Zone One/London Youth, National Citizen Service (NCS) Programme at Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets for pupils aged 16-17.
("NCS offers a range of different types of experiences which are designed to help young people grow their strengths, boost their confidence, learn new skills, build their resilience, and make new friends.").
Trapped in Zone One, in partnership with GoodGym Tower Hamlets, are looking for GoodGym contributors from after Autumn half term, 2024, to take part as a one-contribution. Please see below for more information.
PLEASE NOTE: You should ignore the date on this listing. We will contact you by email to discuss a date that's suitable for you.
What's involved
We're looking for GoodGym members to offer one-off guidance or personal experience in the form of a short talk, on a variety of subjects, including:
Interview technique; your experience of job interviews...Anything around interviewing!
Writing and/or reading CVs (again, any experience at all would be helpful).
Choosing a career: did you know what you wanted to do from an early age, or did you 'end up' in your current career?
The benefits of volunteering - including any career benefits!
The practical stuff
The sessions will most likely take place on a Wednesday afternoon, from 2 - 3:30pm, either at the school on Commercial Road, or in Trapped in Zone One's community centre on the Isle of Dogs.
The sessions will be led on the day by the Trapped in Zone One team, who will meet you, stay with you and support you throughout.
Area Activator Laura will coordinate the sessions with you, and will be always be available for queries.
A reminder this is a one-off Community Mission - it's not a weekly commitment!
Interested? Please sign-up and Laura will be in touch.

What to look out for
Age Restriction
GoodGym welcomes anyone aged 18 or over. If you are under 18 then you will be unable to participate in any GoodGym activity
Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety when running and at a task.
This is brilliant Laura, I will look out for your message.
Thanks Theresa! I will be in touch.
Hi Laura, would it be a short talk to one person or to a whole group of people?
And where it says 'writing or reading CVs', would you need someone to help to proof read the young people's CVs?
Hi Amelia, this would involve talking to a small group. CV guidance might involve sharing any experience you have on CV writing, and answering questions.
Hi Laura! I've signed up for the mission on Wednesday 28 June and would love to know a bit more about what you would need or like where it says "social media in the workplace", as I'd love to offer my support to the young people with this aspect. Thanks!
Hi Hetty, thanks for signing up! Will be in touch.

Hi Laura, do you know if we should still ignore the date on this? It's popped up as being tomorrow but there's not been any additional information come through. Thank you :)
Hi Michelle, apologies, this is not taking place tomorrow. I have changed the date and we will be in touch regarding this in the not-too-distant future.
Hi Laura - can I just check this isn't taking place tomorrow? And if not will you be in touch to schedule a date? Cheers! :)
Hi Audrey, this isn't likely to be taking place in July. Apologies for the delay. I will amend the date, and update everyone ASAP. Thanks for checking!
