A great day for Summer Clothes
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Birmingham.
- Tuesday, 7th of July 2020
I took the chance of a 3 mile run to Mrs J, as the rain looked light enough to avoid me soaking through and leaving wet footprints in her house. Luckily I was right and it only got heavy as I approached her sheltered front door. The task itself would have been perfect except that the quest for summer clothes seemed put off by the unseasonable weather. Despite that, Mrs J was grateful to get access to the drawer below her bed and the clothes within it, as it was a simple side rail held in place under the bed. Something that even my low levels of practical skills could handle. After a quick goodbye and a photo in the beautiful nearby Witton Lakes (looking like I had taken a hike into the wilderness), I ran a lovely route home in the rain through some soggy parks.
As great as it was to do this, it felt very different talking through a mask and leaving as quickly as possible in the current conditions as it really felt like she could do with some company and a chat. Still, great to get it done and leave her with optimism.

Nice work, John. Different times for sure, but sounds a valuable job done and some company Mrs J might not have had today. Truly good deed, through rain and all! Well done.
A great mission John! Sounds like Mrs J was very grateful!
Nice one John, small task but big impact!
