We love riding out the Indian Summer with as many outdoor tasks before the nights draw in, and tonight's was 'smashing'!
The run to our task with Sparc was an uphill 3km, which we took in our stride, whilst debating how to make the best fried chicken. Food is always on the chat menu at our GoodGym group runs!
Arriving at our venue, which was set back amongst terraced houses, we were greeted with the quaint and well cared for project building. There were fruit trees and garden aplenty, along with a grand collection of garden gnomes. Gnomes seem to follow us GoodGymers to our tasks at the moment!
James, who works at the Sparc centre, led us to our project area. in front of us lay (cemented together) a make shift, brick and cement slab table and chairs. Our brief was to remove all of the above and use the slabs to lengthen the concrete area to provide a base for a new therapy shed for the centre.
So, we got to work with sledgehammers, spades and Rob's gardening expertise!
Things we learnt in our mission: You really can do anything you put your mind to. Houses must be pretty easy to knock down with a sledgehammer. ...and Pete doesn't like insects!
The transformation was smashing!
