A litter bit windy

That was fun! 6 miles of plogging along the river path from Elvaston to Alvaston. I couldn't have picked a better day for racking up the extra miles as I chased tiny pieces of plastic back and forth, determined not to let the wind blow them into the river! An unexpected litter challenge.

Amongst the expected bottles, beer cans and face masks were some more unusual items: a toothbrush, several plastic plant pots and a selection of odd socks. A lot of the rubbish was compacted with broken branches against the fence, looking like it has been washed up in the recent floods.

2 full and heavy bin bags, one that split twice and needed reinforcing with three additional bin bags (oops - overfilled that one!), and 6 miles covered, but still so much litter remains. Sounds like a job for the rest of the GoodGym team, so I'll organise a mission.

If you're looking for a way to reduce your plastic use, check out The Big Plastic Count Sign up to gather evidence about how much plastic we are throwing away, see what happens to it and show the Government it's time to reduce our single plastic use.
