Thanks for coming guys, welcome to Katarzyna whose first time it was last night!
In the news this week:
- 85 GoodGymers from all over the UK gathered in Stratford upon Avon at the weekend for the annual shindig, we discussed the future of GoodGym and talked new ideas. Some follow up information will be available soon.
- On Sunday Damian led July's monthly long run in Finsbury Park area, Dom will be leading August's Long Run in South London on 25th - see full details here.
- If you ever spot or know of any potential tasks in Bromley and beyond please let Adele know.
After a quick warm up we headed down Penge high street and right into the more residential area to get to our wonderful tasks - Cator Park. Millie, Pennie, the dogs and others help maintain areas of the park. With council funding being cut for parks, they always need help - that's where we come in.
Millie explained that the two hedge plots were full of thorns, thistles and brambles. Our task, splitting into groups of three, was to trim back and cut out all of those pesky weeds. Ian got started using a huge tool that enabled him to reach right into the centre of the plot.
Blackberry snacks!
The park is planning to have a dog show in September so the instructions were - "don't hold back, cut as much back as possible" - so that's what we did - over 35 minutes we formed piles upon piles of brambles, thistles and more. Nice! As we went we snacked on blackberries, that are seasonably early!
After grabbing a drink we got going with a fitness session: in pairs one person sprinted, while the other did some conditioning exercises:
- Squats
- Star Jumps
- Mountain Climbers
- Plank
- High Knees to finish
Well done all - great workout! Adele is back next week and you'll be painting the railings at Baxter Fields sign up here.
Thanks for having me :)
