Barkchip and lemon drizzle
17 GoodGymers made their way 8km to help their local community in Hackney.

Lastnight I headed over to GoodGym Hackney for what can only be described as a #NonHostileTakeOver …… When the call comes ladies and gents, when the call comes…..
I headed off into the unknown, deep deep deep into East London with nothing but a set of keys, a first aid kit and a pretty red clip board… My mission was simple... Provide the lovely people who would attend to get #FitForPurpose with the option of 2 tasks and 1 mission.
I welcomed everyone in, introduced myself as the crazy guy that runs GGWestminster, a quick briefing on what we had planned and off we went.
Some opted for 8k to help shift barkchip at the Webb Estate Community Garden, some opted for helping out at Secret Society’s Bee Garden in Dalston and others headed over to help out an elderly lady with her weeds and dead plants.
We weaved our way through the back of London Fields and Hackney and joined the A107, we took this alllll the way up to Clapton. A lovely route!! Why? Its strait so there was NO CHANCE of a foreigner like me getting lost, so thankyou for thinking of me Ade.
On arrival we were greeted by the lovely Ruth, we were shown the area, the tools and what needed to be done.
We unloaded all the barkchip from the van, took it to the hidden garden and we began spreading said barkchip all over the pathways.
They say many hands make light work, on this occasion a truer word has never been spoken… It was over in a flash. This means I had more time to introduce some drills for those that were up for it.
But before we left we experienced what some would call HEAVEN, a homemade lemon drizzle cake for our efforts.
We chowed down but not to much lol.. and we were off again, but now.. drills baby, drills, high knees, quick feet, tempo running, bounding and my favorite, sprinting like we are being chased by a pack of large wolves who are in desperate need of sustenance.
We arrived back at HQ safely, exhausted, hot and sweaty…. We stretched, we laughed, we high fived and we were out….
Till next time my friends…. Thankyou for your time……
