Cookie and I met on a Tuesday evening in Camden, rather than in our usual haunt of Hammersmith and Fulham. A new bed had been delivered for Mr J earlier in the day so he could now sleep in a bed rather than on his sofa, a far comfier proposition!

Mr J led us up to the front room where his new bed base, mattress and headboard had been delivered, but it had not been fully assembled, rather placed on top of each other with the packaging still on.

Cookie and I first lifted off the mattress that had been placed on top of the bed base so we could remove all the packaging - it was tough plastic packaging that required some forceful ripping! Once we'd freed both parts of the bed base from the packaging we turned them both over so we could fit the wheels into the pre-drilled holes. Five of the wheels popped in like a dream but there three wheels that would not go in no matter how hard we pushed and wiggled the wheel...a simple job made harder thanks to the pre-drilled holes not being deep enough 🙄. Cookie spotted a tennis racquet and cleverly used the base of handle to knock in two of the wheels, but boy did he make a 'racquet' doing it! 🎾

However, there was one wheel that would not budge no matter how hard we both tried. Cookie obtained a screwdriver from Mr J and he set about making the hole deeper so the wheel would go in...finally, success! The final wheel was in and we turned both bed bases onto their side so we could securely fasten them together with the two large clips.

Bed base assembled with then turned our attention to attaching the headboard. We carried the headboard across and started to match up the wooden headboard struts with the drilled in screw bolts in the bed base...Cookie made a great go of it on his own as I got the action shot 😄. We managed to get both struts aligned first time and Cookie started tightening the first of the screw bolts on his side, once they were held in firmly I then screwed in both bolts my side. All that was needed was a final tighten up of all the bolts, which proved a little bit of a challenge with the small screwdriver we had, but despite this we managed to succeed with some patience and perseverance!

We then removed the packaging from the mattress and laid it on top of the bed base, job done! One new assembled bed for Mr J. We cleared all the plastic packaging into a bin bag for Mr J and brought it downstairs for him so that all he needed to do was make his new bed up. I'd leave you with a joke about a bed, but it hasn't been made up yet...
