29 people ran between 5-8k to help finish digging a plot to create a butterfly zone

We had a cracking run last night. Over the last few months we have been helping Camden Butterfly Trust and their founder Jim to create a butterfly friendly habit in the heart of Camden. He has permission to convert a roadside strip into a wildflower garden and after weeks of breaking up the soil he is nearly ready to start planting. Nice work Jim (sign his petition on the above link!).

Tag team digging

With few tools available we broke into 4 teams of 7. While 1 team worked the other 3 went into Regents Park for some running related exercises. Every 10mins one team ran back to the task and swapped places with those who were working.

Regents Park-Core

We tried a few different things while waiting our turn to dig- working our CORE with a few moving planks and trying some short fast sprints concentrating on running technique.

Job done

After 40mins we had finished the job digging and turning all the soil to enable Jim to start sowing wildflowers. He was delighted- he couldn't have broken up that ground without us.

On the way home we broke into 2 groups-one heading for the canal and the other heading directly home.

Here's a report about the long run home from Tommy

A group of us broke off for a longer run down the canal from Regents Park to Kings Cross. We initially started off concentrating on our improved running technique (think circles!), but this soon gave way to focussing on low bridges with minimal lighting and dodging the various rogues and revellers of the Camden Lock! A real taste of London crammed into one 4K run...
