Dig A Little Deeper

Tonight's task was back to the lovely St Mary's Churchyard in Walthamstow. We have been making occasional visits to this historic place over the summer and what a difference we have made. We were joined by new runners Jo and Wendy as well as Waltham Forest first timer, Stefania.
After a quick debrief and a Bake Off inspired conflab. about our favourite cakes, we toiled uphill to our task. On arrival, we kitted ourselves out with full gardening garb including gloves, barrows, spades, forks and rakes. Then off to work we went! Tonight was all about digging and dig we did. We moved some serious earth, digging out an old compost and bagging it up.
Luckily in addition to the manual tools, we had a big beast in the shape of a petrol driven wood chipper to help sort the wheat from the chaff, or the branches from the organic matter in this case.
With newly returned and much missed Nerys and hard-working Hannah on chipping duty, we made enough sawdust to keep a rabbit's hutch in flooring for life. With the rest of the crew digging like an army of moles, it wasn't long before we had filled all the available bags.
After this, it was time to pack away and hit up some drills. With a handy 100M circuit we went for slow, medium and fast laps of the circuit. Three times three and our weary crew were ready for home so it was back to base for some stretches and the end of this weeks activity.
Well done all, you rock.
Next week, we are back to the Toy Library. Don't miss out those lovely, fluffy, cuddly toys need your help.
