Care4Calais is a charity which deliver emergency aid to refugees and those affected by the European migrant crisis. They are in the process of moving their donation sorting location from Central Manchester to Stockport and were in need of volunteers to help shifting boxes and sorting donations into categories, ready to be sent the those in need.
Laura, Kirsty and I set off from opposite sides of Stockport for this task, aiming to meet bang on 6pm ready for our boxfit with a difference session!
Kirsty made a 6km run to the task point look easy! I took a nice downhill jog and Laura embraced the sunshine with a leisurely walk!
Arriving, in sync, at the mill warehouse, we were greeted by Juliet, our task owner and a French volunteer undertaking an internship ... and hundreds of boxes, cages and shelving units packed with donated goods.
We began unloading the boxes and filtering the clothing into cages and categories. It was incredible to see the quality of donated garments and hear all about the wonderful work that Care4Calais do.
As the night got darker, we set back off on foot, taking a steady uphill route home.
Seeing just how much sorting there was still to do, we are back next week to continue sifting and sorting!
Definitely a boxfit session with a difference, but we got the HANG'ER to his!
