1 GoodGymer made their way to help the City Harvest in Ealing.

I timed my visit to City Harvest just before the rain started. After reaching I was looking for the warehouse manager and found Ruby moving boxes of mixed vegetables for us to start packing. We had a first-time volunteer today, who settled into our rhythm of making trays pretty quickly.
Unwrap and then wrap
We had packs of lettuce. We needed to remove them from their plastic wrapping and put them in the trays lined with plastic bags, as we don't want to put raw vegetables on unclean trays. From the mixed vegetable boxes, we had courgettes, cucumber, spring onions, and iceberg lettuce.
Like last week we had quite a lot of rotten cucumbers and courgettes. Also, some of the courgettes were wonky and come in all shapes and sizes. We made two palettes( 60 trays) of mixed salad before wrapping up the tray.
Also, I had fun moving the pallets using the pallet trucks.
