14 Goodgymers ran 4k to Broadwater Farm Community centre to help clean up their pretty impressive trophy cabinets and gym
Big shouts out to, Jo for acing her first GGH session - nice. Out to Cathy & Beth too.. great meeting you for the first time. Give em a cheer folks!
Catching up with my fellow GGrs on my return from holidays was over all to quickly as we fast approached are own departure time… out we went back into the cold to warm our cogs. Warm up and briefing done we hit the street in search of silver wear.
Brrr
On our arrival to Broadwater Farm Community Centre we wasted no time in getting into the warm (Brrr) and meeting Clasford (MBE) who runs the centre and the. We whip out a couple of tables split the group in two as aside from the trophy cabinet needing a clean there was also some light work to be done in the gym.. at least that’s what Andy and his little crew made of it. The trophy cabinets are housed in the entrance to the centre and is pretty much the first thing you see as you enter. It had clearly seen better days as jobs like this can be hard to actually - get done - when you have a million and one other things to do and nowhere near enough time to do so. Just as we were setting up Emily popped up.. shouts out to you for meeting us at the task.
Brasso
Within no time at all the squad had whipped out the trophies and began getting their clean on. Brasso was a flowing and before long Andy and his crew rejoined us and everyone took the cleaning to the next level.. only interrupted by a little group of Turkish boys who wanted to know what we were up to. I mentioned that we were helping to keep their trophy cabinets nice and clean in order to view their achievements in all their gleam. We also set them a little counting task to see how many trophies their were. 65 was the number that came back. Impressive stuff.
Hill training
After completing our task and making Clasford a very happy man we had a round of high fives before heading over to the Lordship Rec for some hill training. We did a mini Lydiard session and focused on strengthening the ankle, knee and upper thigh muscle - with an emphasis on posture for squeezing more out of your run. The run back was pretty swift with a sprint along the home straight.
Warm down and a social ensued!
Shouts out to Paul and everyone who contributed to the pun and shouts out to DD for this Flyby'd link which displays our session on Strava - worth a look 👊🏽
