Eternal sunshine of the weedless kind
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Islington.
- Saturday, 17th of February 2018
Hannah and James ran to help Mrs D with her garden on a stunning Saturday afternoon in North London.
What’s that bizarre yellow thing in the sky making my face warm? I asked myself as I approached the site of today’s mission. Good thing I was running to meet fellow GoodGym-er and renewable energy physicist Hannah. Turns out it’s the sun. You know, the centre of our solar system?
We were out basking in the benediction of its radiant rays because our task today was to help Mrs D get her front garden in order. First though it was up the road to B&Q. Why? Tools, my dear Watson. All the better to garden with. And garden we did.
We got to work with a spiffy new three-pronged fork and garden spade, both still with their tags attached, and made good progress removing many well established weeds. Mrs D was on hand to help us identify the ones that needed to go and the ones that got to stay and enjoy the sunlight. We then raked up a whole bunch of old dry leaves and ended up filling a great big garden waste bag with our takings.
There’s still more work to do, but Mrs D was happy with what we got through and we were most pleased to be able to make a difference in her garden, all under the nurturing nuclear gaze of a nearly perfect sphere of hot plasma.
Don't go changing sun. You're alright.
