Fency that...
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Wednesday, 31st of July 2019
This morning I met up with the lovely & energetic Jody, who ran 12k to get to there!
Today's task involved clearing out a room for Mr M, so that (after a bit of redecorating) his daughter would have some space to stay when she was over. Mr M had been busy and bagged up a lot of items already, so under his guidance we bagged up the rest, filtered out some bits he wanted to keep and lined everything up in the corridor. In between Mr M explained the reason for the huge pots we carried out - in the past he had been cooking food at festivals etc! And as something different, he had been a dap hand at fencing, but unfortunately deteriorating mobility & eyesight meant he wasn't able to do either anymore, hence the clear-out.
Everything cleared out & carried down (Mr M kindly offered to re-schedule since the lift was out, but a mere 2 flights is no problem for a motivated Goodgym crew!), we made our goodbyes and went on our ways again - Jody taking a bit more leisurely way home, me back to work, happy with a job well done.
P.S... no we did not chuck the epee/foil/sabre in the bin on the estate for others to find and get up to mischief, but instead disposed of it more securely by taking it away and dismantling it!
