4 GoodGymers made their way to help the Friends of Furnivall Gardens in Hammersmith and Fulham.

First Saturday of the month = a community mission at Furnivall gardens for Hammersmith & Fulham goodgymers! Today 4 of us braved the chilly autumnal weather to lend the Friends of Furnivall Gardens a hand. Rachel was ready and waiting when we arrived at 10am, and had quite an ambitious list of tasks for us today:
- Planting a range of flower bulbs in the middle triangle, and in the flower beds
- Sweeping up the fallen leaves and creating piles of them for critters to use as habitats
- Tackling the green alkanet in the flower bed by Dove's passage
We divided into 2 teams and set to work on the first two tasks on the list. Beth & Analiese opted for planting duty, enjoying the bulb planter tools which made this job a doddle! Ishan and Helen made a start on the more physically-demanding task, sweeping the fallen leaves into large piles which they then scooped into bags to transport. After finishing the planting, Beth and Analiese joined the leaf-sweeping squad to warm themselves up.
The team worked together to scoop the leaves up and make some nice big piles of them under the trees for the wildlife to enjoy. Today's task passed by rather quickly with no major mishaps - although there was a rather comical slap to the face for Beth thanks to one particularly springy tree branch ππ³
After an hour and a half of hard work, the four of us were quite chilly so headed off home to warm up. No doubt the green alkanet will be waiting for us next month! Unbe-leaf-able work today guys πͺ
