GoodGym Camden runners made the short dash down to Calthorpe Project last night on their Group Run. Calthorpe is described as ‘an inner city oasis’, and that description wasn’t far off. We helped shift some wood chip around the beds and cleared some weeds from a secluded seated area (I’d recommend going to check it out if you get a chance). We approached the task with gusto- Jack and Alex showed us how to race slightly unstable wheelbarrows round a slalom track without spilling any woodchip- while Mairi’s ‘smash’ technique made light work of the weeds around a Gaudi- esque seated area. We made the 5-a-side footballers look pedestrian.

We then ran to Tavistock Square, home of Gandhi and Virginia Woolf, and ran some laps of the square. We tried to push ourselves- running one way round the park, turning and trying to make it back to the start position in the same time. Other than Andrew (sand bagging on the first lap and sprinting round with 10 secs to spare) we all managed to get back in roughly the same time- showing good pace judgement all round! Oh and we did it twice for good measure. Pushing our breathing like this should help us feel more comfortable on our longer group runs in the future- Nice one!

PS- I'm a fitness freak and proud- embrace it...
