A great run around the harbour, lots of lovely people, fighting an invasive species and some giant Gromits. Just another GoodGym Bristol run!
After meeting at the Folk House on Park Street, and the famous 60 second warm up, we headed out to over Brandon Hill, along the harbour and up the hill to the beautiful setting of Ashton Court. Neil from Bristol Invasive Weed forum met us there and led us to a hill which was full of Himalayan Balsam, an invasive species. This week’s task was surprisingly satisfying - to pull out the plant by it’s roots, rip them up and chuck them into the woods. Despite the fear of tics, brambles and nettles, we all got stuck in and managed to clear the whole route.
We than ran back in glorious evening sunshine (only stopping to pose with a life size Gromit painted as a strawberry) with Fraser and Niall leading the way. Our newest members Becky and Kyle both did brilliantly on a long run and tough task.
