Saturday’s group run was a real belter! The weather was perfect for running, sunny but not hot , we had a great group and a rewarding task.
This week’s task was at Arnos Vale, a beautiful Victorian cemetery in the south of Bristol. We were planning to shift woodchip, but after this was not delivered the task was to give the cemetery a bit of a spring clean and shift some piles of logs.
We met as usual at Roll for the Soul and after and quick introduction ran south to Vale. We had a bit of a detour to Queen’s Square where we warmed up with some dynamic stretches and then headed on through Mary Redcliffe Church, over the Banana Bridge, through Victoria Park and to the cemetery. The whole group did great tackling the tough hill on the way to the cemetery.
We then set about the task with relish, clearing the first area as a group and then splitting into groups to shift the logs and pick litter from the rest of the beautiful cemetery.
For the run home we split into two groups, with the larger group heading back the way we came and a smaller group heading back a slightly longer way, and aiming to up the pace, dropping off the rubbish on the way back. Both groups finished with an impressive sprint finish to Roll for the Soul.
