Green Grass, Green Bins, Greensleeves!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Newcastle.
- Sunday, 4th of November 2018
It was GoodGym Newcastle's first mission to help Mr S today and GG veterans Katy and Ross were raring to go and make a difference for someone new!
Mr S had managed to have his lawn cut, but because of the wet weather some of the grass hadn't managed to blow away. Katy loves getting stuck in to those outdoorsy tasks so got straight on with the raking, tidying up the leaves and grass into the compost bin. Unfortunately it was still too wet to cut back the hedges, but thankfully there's always next time!
Ross helped Mr S inside by sorting out his rubbish into the bins and tidying up in the garage so that Mr S could access everything he needed, including his scooter which he told us is essential in allowing him to get to all of the places he loves to go.
Afterwards, it was lovely to join Mr S for a cup of tea and discussion of how great 'up north' is! Durham and Bowes Museum are definitely favourites but a visit to the Sage for coffee and listening to the children play the classics (Fur Elise, Greensleeves and, of course, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) is also a pleasant way to spend the day catching up with old friends.
We hope that we'll be back to help Mr S again and hear some more lovely stories about his favourite places in the North East!
