GOODGYM'LL SHIFT IT
10 GoodGymers made their way 3.0km to help their local community in Newham.
- Wednesday, 20th of May 2015
Yesterday was a bit of landmark for GGNewham, not only did we say cheers to our first (overdue) social, but we managed to get Carol & Alice both on one run for the first time in months.....RESULT!
10 Runners made their way to Play, Sow and Grow community hub to undertake some house moving style clearing. A host of random tasks awaited us, when we arrived we jumped in taking on any jobs suitable in a bid to get the garden 'summer playtime ready' for the kids. This proved to be a bit of a spring clean also, one of those attempts to make it look like you've got less stuff whilst actually cramming more stuff in any space that will accept it. This was all done in an orderly, organised fashion of course.
The jobs went a little something like this:
- A dome tent and gazebo in need of erecting
- A damaged BBQ delivered that day needed to look as new again
- Clearing out the main container and loading more stuff in
- A volleyball net in need of untangling and putting up
Add a few extra odd jobs and voila! You will notice none of the above jobs involved chickens, yeah, sorry about that. Insert sighs and shrinking smiles, it's ok we shall return. The group pic of the night was a jump shot, (Yeah I'm not even airborne, my bad) We shall work on this, I expect power ranger style precision and dives next week.
Back in the park and it was time to earn our post run burgers, this was a lactic acid building session with very little recovery in between pushing out 85% out and backs. The group powered through, and those brave enough battled through some Shake Shack too.
Great work everyone, start putting your suggestions forward for the June outing. See you next week for our 'beat your 1k' run
