If You’re Ready Coke & Baguette It
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Hammersmith and Fulham.
- Thursday, 16th of July 2020
A Thursday night run in my home borough, heading up to Shepherds Bush, On a mission to shop for Ms N, up Hammersmith Grove - Whoosh!
At the end on the corner, I stopped and completed a minute long wall sit, An H&F special on a Tuesday night, part of the ‘do good & get fit’.
Ms N’s shielding from the coronavirus, can’t get to the shops herself, Luckily GoodGym were there to help, when she can’t do it because of her health.
Paracetamol tablets - the round chalky ones, were top of her list, ‘Lamp chops, kale, potatoes, mint sauce, what else have I missed’?
When she’d finally figured out all the goods to get, Handed over some money to pay and off I went, ready set.
First stop was the local Tesco’s, just along the street, But there was no French stick or mint sauce to be found, no plain olives or the right meat.
So off I ran along the Bush, to the Lidl on the green, No queue today, I walked right in, feeling like the Queen.
There was kale and baguette at a reasonable price, and potatoes for her to mash, Bottled water and peaches and most of the goods, I went and paid with her cash.
Had a search in Poundland for the painkillers and cola, but they didn’t have the right kind, Thankfully Boots next door had the paracetamol she wanted, what an excellent find.
Then back along the road to Sainsbury’s Local, still in search of full fat coke, They had diet and zero and Pepsi max, but no normal Coca Cola - what a joke!
I did get her cigarettes and Rizla paper, and the server asked for ID, I was flattered - I’m almost 28, he said ‘well you could be 23’.
Everything ticked off the list except the coke, which to fair was a struggle to source, So back to the first shop I went into, Tesco’s, and what did I find - the coke, of course!
Arms feeling heavy, but shopping all done, I trudged back to Ms N’s flat, ‘Oh god you’ve been ages, I was getting worried’, I apologised, sorry about that.
Explained about my quest to get the fizzy drink in, and how I didn’t want to fail, She was so impressed I’d got everything, from crisps to the bread and the kale.
Ms N was so grateful for the good deed, and as a thank you shared a can, Then off I went with my 330ml of full fat coke, and back to Hammersmith I ran...
