It's Dirty Work but GoodGym are Here to Do It
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Sunday, 7th of April 2019
Ms R needed help clearing out some old, awkward items which, owing to various hand and shoulder injuries, were too heavy for her to tackle herself. In anticipation of it being a messy job, Ms R had covered the carpet with old newspapers and dust sheets, ready for her GoodGym helpers to get on with the dirty work.
Hilary and Anne set about clearing the well-stocked cupboard of a miscellany of pottery glazes, household paint, DIY tools, surplus underlay and a few remnants of life with once younger family members. Most items were bagged and binned but a few more salvageable items were set aside for reuse. Some pots of paint and glazes were made ready for collection by the Council Waste Team.
After removing what we could of historic spillages and a generous layer of dust, the remaining useful items were put back in an orderly fashion, ensuring everything was easily identifiable and accessible.
Ms R was delighted that order had been restored and extra space created in her cupboard and the pair of dusty GoodGymers went on their way.
