Ivy a bag feeling about this
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Birmingham.
- Sunday, 1st of August 2021
I ran across the city while Louise cycled to help Mrs P with her garden. We worried for a moment as she led us down her beautiful and well kept garden, as we have firmly established ourselves as the destroyers of weeds rather than gardeners with any finesse or knowledge. Thankfully, we kept on walking to a much more overgrown back of the garden, hidden from view. Mrs P explained that she particularly wanted to get rid of the Ivy that was coating the ground and we knew we had a task we could get well into. We spent just over an hour raking, clipping, filling up bags and catching up with each other. Mrs P was happy to see the area looking clear and her green waste bag was filled up with just part of the weeds that we had cleared. Again, we found in our chat as we left, that it was not just a completed task that makes a difference. We had cleared enough she said, to allow her to see that this wild area can be tamed and she has the inspiration to take the next stage on. I was organised enough to take a before picture of the area we cleared, but forgot to take the after shot, so we posed for a nearby selfie as we left instead.
