Litter-ally no pun, rubbish!

12 GoodGymers made their way 5.4km to help their local community in Brent.

So much appreciation for you team! Eleven incredible GoodGym-ers braved the freezing (literally) temperatures on a Monday night in Brent and help with a litter pick around Gladstone Park and swallow up a 5km run too!

This might have been the coldest run of the year so far but it didn't stop these brilliant people coming out. We all gathered in the warmth of the Queensbury, welcomed Louise who has just moved to the area from France and was here for her first ever GoodGym run! Bonjour!

In the intro we discussed the January Challenge, we're going to be close but not quite there I think but it's been a great effort all the same - still a couple of days to make an impact! The upcoming GoodGym-wide social on the 7th February near Old Street and our double fun Saturday that's coming up too! This Saturday 2nd Feb we are going along to Gladstone parkrun, not quite a take over but we'll make our presence felt and introduce GoodGym to the runners, that'll be swiftly followed by a 10k run at 11am with the Beer + Burger team - do come along if you can!

With everything discussed we headed out in to the cold. A dynamic warm-up was first on the agenda and really important on such a cold night. With that dispatched we headed off to Gladstone Park with Rosie leading the way. Once we hit the park I explained the plan. With it being so cold I wanted to ensure that we kept moving so we did a non-stop litter pick! Split into two teams we handed out bin bags and gloves and then headed off. Sticking to the lit paths we jogged along with the occasional dive for litter.

We were impressed with how clean it was but it didn't stop us finding a load of litter! We followed a similar route to the parkrun route which gave us some good hills to work on which kept us warm as we worked our way around and we enjoyed the views of london and Wembley stadium from the peak of the park.

After a circuit of the park we came to a stop, the bags were judged and Karen's team had picked the most litter but it was a great effort all round and thankfully no-one was too cold!

With that we headed for a speedy run back to the warmth of the Queensbury. We did our stretches, talked about next week's task (a deep clean for Brent Mencap) and were all rather stumped for a good pun to use for the run report title!

With that it was time for another great session to end, some headed home and some headed for a deserved drink - well done everyone!
