Mind over Mudder
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Saturday, 20th of January 2018
On a very wet and rainy afternoon, two intrepid runners (Linda and Mridula (me)) went over to Mrs. H's house to help her with her back yard. I had been to this mission once before and knew there were some heavy duty brambles but also a strimmer! Given how soaked we were getting on the way there, we wisely stopped at a hardware store and picked up some heavy duty gloves.
Once we got there we were surprised to find that her back yard was surprising cleared of the brambles. But there were some deep roots, so we got to work. We took it in turns to overturn the earth and dig out the deep roots!
All this time, chatter turned to a worthy cause! Linda is doing Run every Day and is raising money for mental health. In no time at all we were done. Unfortunately the wet weather made our shoes caked with mud! We couldn't get back through the house so we decided to hop over the fence out the back. Linda hopped gracefully over whilst I tried my best not to fall on her.
Another day another mission!
