Mission Aborted
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Bristol.
- Sunday, 21st of July 2024
I turned up today hoping to help Mrs G plant some shrubs by moving these from some pots into the ground.
Sadly however, her new house guest had other ideas.
Mrs G had recently saved a lovely dog from being put down by agreeing to house her, whilst a permanent home can be found for her. Sadly, this beautiful creature had been severely abused in the past and whilst Mrs G had had some female visitors since the dog's arrival, I was the first male visitor and suffice to say she reacted very badly to me being there and was clearly in a lot of stress as a result of me invading her new home and garden space.
Despite a few attempts to calm the situation, it became clear that my continued presence was only going to do more harm than good and so we agreed to call a halt to proceedings.
It is heartbreaking to try and imagine the torment and abuse this lovely dog has suffered in the past although it was lovely to see the clear bond between her and Mrs G - hopefully the continued love and affection that Mrs G will give her will heal some of the invisible scars over time, if not the visible ones.

Ah this must have been quite distressing all round. Hopefully she’ll settle when she feels safe
I hope so Michelle, it's so hard to comprehend how someone could abuse an animal so badly :-(
