Not For Turning
7 GoodGymers made their way 3.0km to help their local community in Newham.

Half a dozen of us met in windswept and cool conditions. Completing a light warm up whilst improvising our weekly icebreaker, it transformed into "what effects have the storm had on you?" Toppled greenhouses, bin lids to never enclose your refuse again and train delays causing nights over in Epping.
Hils led the way at Get Out, providing more nuanced instruction, as a rock of reliability in their weekend volunteer group. We were to level, aerate and weed a section of beds, but NOT to turn the beds. This of course became a debate of 'how do you define turning?' - on a spade level, or on a granular level? I think we did a pretty competent job, in line with the key tenets of permaculture.
Lots of the discussion centered around the Half Marathon endeavours this coming weekend. The celebrations, the tactical scheduling of pub time and the search for PB's. On a race that long, I think it's important to know you'll go through patches, none of them are permanent, so if you're feeling heavy, know that it will pass. I always found that allowed me to push me through a bit more.
I'll be keeping a keen eye out on Strava and Whatsapp. Have a superb race experience and social. GO GGN!
Till next week,
B
