Phillips heads off Allen in Key win to top table
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Islington.
- Thursday, 8th of March 2018
Danny - on his first ever GoodGym mission! - and James teamed up on a Thursday evening to help Mrs S in her home.
Mrs S needed a wooden table disassembled and the pieces to be taken outside and left by her building's rubbish bin for later collection. She also needed a few other items taken to the same place. She couldn't do this herself so we were there to help.
We set to with the tools provided. It became quickly apparent however that one of the tools not provided was the particular size of allen key we needed to remove the base of the table. While Danny and Mrs S led an expedition through the toolbox and around the house to find Absent Allen, James thought he'd be clever and unscrew all the Phillips-head screws from the bit the base was attached to. Maybe that would work? Nope, didn't work.
As the vibe in the room got a bit m-allen-choly, James threw caution to the wind and tried one of the Phillips-head screwdrivers in an allen key-shaped screwhead. And what do you know, it started turning. We were back on!
From there we made quick work of disassembling the table and of taking it and the other items outside for collection. Mrs S was most pleased and we departed after a chat and some laughs, all of us in good spirits. Even AWOL Allen.
